There are a great many cavaliers that have proved themselves to be somewhat extra special and we thought that it is high time that a special award was given to honour dogs such as these .Over the months in conjunction with The CKCS Club, we will highlight a number of dogs that have proved themselves to be rather special.

These may have been Hearing Dogs, Pets as Therapy Dogs and other dogs that have been extremely special to someone in rather difficult circumstances. There are also other Cavaliers that have astounded people by the amount of tricks that they are able to perform. We want to show the world that it’s not just top winning show dogs that we honour; companion dogs are equally important. Towards the end of the year the club will choose The Cavalier of the Year from this Roll of Honour.

Missy the Therapy Dog Missy is a beautiful and loving tricolour who was bred by Chris Gingell of Caruaidd Cavaliers in Alberta, Canada. Her owners trained her as a Therapy Dog and she specializes in visiting patients in hospices. The hospice movement worldwide endeavours to create a homelike and welcoming environment for end of life care. They try to avoid the clinical look of a hospital and create a space where patients can end their life in dignity. They believe that people are precious to their last breath and they try to create a peaceful and serene atmosphere. Therapy dogs are most welcome here and Missy the Cavalier is so very tactile and brings great comfort to people as she snuggles up with unquestioning affection.

She even manages to bring warm smiles to the faces of folk whose days are very numbered. There is a short video of Missy at work which in some ways is awfully sad, and yet at the same time is also very heart warming. Go to
